At Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, we love when people find ways to use their God-given talents, gifts, abilities and desires to serve others. We love it because it pleases God and brings so much joy to the people being served—and to the server!
First, here is an updated list of some current needs in the church and community:
My Brother's Kitchen provides delicious meals to the Lawndale community every Saturday at Lawndale CRC. Our church has committed to serving every 2nd Saturday of the month. The commitment is 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. You will help serve food, setup, clean-up and interact with the people who come for the meal. It's an amazing opportunity to serve. If you or your small group are interested, please contact Ron at (630)935-5393.
Coins for CareNet Baby bottles are available at the displays in the church lobby. Please fill the bottle with leftover pocket change and return it to church by Sunday, March 4. Thank you! Your change will help hundreds of women and will help save lives through CareNet.
CareNet’s Parenting Program, Bridges, is in great need of the following baby supplies: diapers in sizes newborn, 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 (do not need size 3); pull ups; Enfamil and baby food; wipes, baby wash, shampoo and lotion. We will be accepting donations for the next several weeks. Please place your donations in the container in the lobby by the west entrance. Thank you!
Help with Single Mother's Ministry Elmhurst Church's Single Mother's Ministry, Sisters Helping Each Other (SHE), could use help in a few areas (see below). To volunteer, contact Jane Lorep at 630-832-4942.
- Men, be a father figure to a child in the Single Mother's Support Group. Take a child to a sports game or enfold him or her into a family activity once a month.

- Mentor a single mom as the need presents itself.
Yorkfield/Elmhurst Food Pantry would like to thank the members of our church for continued support of the food pantry. The need is increasing, and our support is appreciated. ECRC collects food for Yorkfield Food Pantry on the third Sunday of every month. The pantry is in need of toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine hygiene items) as well as cookies, coffee/tea, cereals, paper towels, tissues, large juice bottles and meal helpers (Hamburger Helper, etc.) A full list can be found here. (They are very well stocked on canned goods as they receive these items from the Northern Illinois Food Bank.)
Volunteer at the Yorkfield/Elmhurst Food Pantry In addition to shifts working directly with clients (Monday nights, Thursday afternoons and Saturday morning), the food pantry also needs some strong helpers to unload the delivery truck every other Tuesday morning (times vary). They also need volunteers to pick up Panera Bread (in Oak Brook) once a month and pick up produce from Ultra Foods in Lombard on Thursday or Saturday mornings. Since they have specific needs, please contact Janet Cox (630-975-1149) or Jacki Lawrence to find out more information or to be scheduled. Thank you!
If you’d like to find another way to use your gifts to glorify God and help someone else, we’d be happy to help you match what you love to do and what you do well with some specific needs of our church, our community and our world. See the links below for further information.
