Crisis Care and Support

Who do I contact if I need care?

·        Call the church office on Monday-Thursday at 630-600-5043

·        Call Pastor Gregg directly on Friday- Sunday

·        Call or email the parish nurse – 630-254-9768 or beth.rinsema@elmhurstcrc.org

·        Contact your small group leader (if you are in a small group)

·        Email the prayer chain – prayer@elmhurstcrc.org – all staff and elders and many others receive this information immediately.

·        Remember – we can only provide support if you take a few minutes to contact us

·        Communion - If you are unable to attend worship services for an extended period of time and would like to receive communion at your residence, please contact Pastor Gregg to arrange a visit with an elder or a pastor

What can I expect in a crisis?

·        Sickness

o   Initial hospital visit done by a pastor (unless very short stay)

o   Follow-up visits done by parish nurse, pastor, small group leader/members, elder  if appropriate

o   Support from Deaconesses, Servants on Standby as needed

o   Prayer support

·        Death

o   Pastor attendance at the wake or funeral of a close family member (spouse, parent, child)

o   Support from your small group leader and members

o   Support from an elder

o   Card from Deaconesses and funeral lunch if requested

o   Prayer support

o   Follow-up by Bereavement Ministry Team for 2 years

o   Transitions Support Group available

·        Other (broken relationships, addictions, financial difficulties, spiritual struggles, etc)

o   Pastoral Counseling if requested

o   Elder Support

o   Deacon Support

o   Small Group Support

o   Prayer support

o   Multi-team approach for complex situations including referrals to Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses, Healing Heart Ministry, Support Groups, other Healing Ministries, or Community Resources as appropriate
